I think about it from time to time... it would seriously cut down on the cost... but when you're out and about you cant just throw the dirty ones away...
I will be cloth diapering. I think the pros really outweigh the cons, and the cost savings was the final deciding factor for me and my hubby! Order a few and see how you like it before diving right in. I've ordered a dozen (enough for one day, really), and will be alternating between cloth and disposable until I decide for sure.
One of the main issues comes in if you're going to be taking your little one to day care. If that's the case, 9 times out of 10 they won't deal with cloth.
I LOVE our cloth diapers. We just purchased one of those clip-on baggie dispensers (see Target: Munchkin Diaper Fresh Dispenser) for when we ae out and about and pop the dirty ones in there or just stuff with a clean cloth. If we will be out all day, then we take some disposable ones for sake of ease. We have saved TONS of money! and if we have number two, they are still in good enough condition that they could use them (cha ching!). If you have questions, feel free to pass them along! Good luck!
We use Imse Vimse soft covers with cotton prefold inserts, and have been since our baby was about 4-6 weeks old (she's now 9 1/2 months).
It has saved us a LOT of money, and she seems to have a lot less irritation than with disposables. I've heard that babies tend to potty train sooner when they're in cloth, so here's hoping!
A good wet bag (we use this one, in the biggest size available) is essential.
Everything that she's grown out of so far is also in great shape to use for other babies.
It does mean (obviously) doing more laundry, but they also double as cloths for wiping up messes and little mouths...

I say give it a shot! Good luck!
I have no experience with them, but those diapers sure do look cute hanging on that clothesline.
