I've Got Good News and I've Got Bad News...

Which one do you want to hear first?

If you're like most people I know, I am going to assume that you would say bad news...

(I'm so dramatic. And presumptuous.)

Monday, I brought Gemma in to the docs, because she had a rough sounding cough. I had called the nurse at the pediatrician's office, and she said it sounded like it may be croup so we had to go in. The doctor examined her, and said that she thinks that the cough is related to her runny nose which is caused by ???. She didn't really say why she has had a runny nose for the past 2 weeks.

Thanks for the specific answers doc. I am glad to know that I leave your office knowing barely anything more than what I knew when I got there.

Please give me a moment to bang my head into my desk.

So, I am sort of whatever about the cough, for now at least, but what really worries me is that Gemma lost one and a half pounds. In two weeks. She went from almost 18 pounds to just over 16 pounds.

I feel like I am failing as a mother, because I can't manage the simple task of nurturing my child.

On top of that, I am wondering that there is something really wrong. Not because I have any reason to think that there is something else wrong, but I am a mama, and I worry. Sue me.

Has anybody else had any experience with something like this?

So, now that I have worked myself up into a frenzy (again), the good news!

I won a giveaway, for the first time ever! I won this cute crinkle toy, from Brandy at You Don't Know. You should head on over and check out Brandy's blog. She is a funny lady.

And on that note, think good thoughts for this little lady, would you?

  1. Aww :( I have no idea what could be up but I hope everything is okay! And you arent failing as a mother, maybe shes just lost weight because shes been more active. Or maybe last time she was weighed she a had a full belly? It could be anything. *hugs*

  2. I feel this way pretty often - over so many things: eating, sleeping, pooping...Way too often in fact. My latest is food related. M is not a huge eater and I feel like I'm the worst mama. But I'm not, and you're certainly not. We're good mamas who love our little ones and are doing an amazing job nurturing our darlings. Many, many good thoughts to your Gemma!

  3. Hope Gemma is feeling better soon. My kids didn't eat much when they didn't feel good. I know it's easy for me to say and hard for you to do...but try not to worry about it too much. And hopefully she'll be feeling noticeably better in a couple of days. Hang in there!

  7. Thanks lady! =)

I know what it's like to feel like you're failing as a mother - after Levi was born he was a great eater the first day or two and then after that he ate NOTHING for at least two days... he lost a considerable amount of weight. A scary amount, and he wasn't eating. I didn't know what to do or how to fix it... it's such a terrible feeling. But you're doing all that you can and for that you're a wonderful mother!

I'd have to agree with the thought that she may have lost weight because she's not feeling well. A lot of babies don't eat as much when they're feeling yucky and that could result in the lower weight. I'm sure she'll be fine. =)

Congrats on that giveaway! I'm pretty jealous. I never win anything. hahah.

    Gemma's in my thoughts!
